La Pasqua è molto sentita anche a Caltagirone, in provincia di Catania. Si ha la venerazione della Madonna Addolorata la domenica prima di quella delle Palme. Una Domenica di Passione in cui i fedeli si raccolgono nella Chiesa dei Cappuccini per venerare il gruppo ligneo del 1700che rappresenta il Cristo e la Madre, all’esterno abbiamo le bancarelle dove si vendono i fiaschietti in terracotta e i dolci tpici.

Maria del Monte, adiacente la Piazza del Municipio; tale via crucis ripercorre gli ultimi eventi della vita terrena di Gesù, dall’orto degli ulivi fino alla resurrezione.

Il Giovedì Santo è la serata dedicata alla “Celebrazione eucaristica”, con la visita ai “Sepolcri” che vengono realizzati in ogni parrocchia.
Elemento particolare è la presenza negli altari predisposti per tali allestimenti, di vasetti con germogli di grano fatti crescere al buio.
La tradizione impone il numero di “Sepolcri” da visitare: i fedeli dovranno recarsi in parrocchie differenti per più di tre volte, e comunque, per un numero di volte dispari.

Uno dei momenti più forti della Fede di Questa Citta’ e il Venerdi Santo, quando il Cataletto del Cristo Morto, cioè una scultura lignea riposta in un Urna costruita in legno e vetro e rifinita con oro, e la statua della Madonna Addolorata sono portati in processione per le vie del Centro Storico.
le due Statue sono portati in Processione a spalla dalla confratenita “Cristo Morto e dell’addolorata” dai fedeli partendo dalla Basilica Cattedrale S. Giuliano dove vi farà nuovamente Rientro.

La Domenica di Pasqua si ha una Processione più imponente: ci sono tre Statue, quella di S. Pietro proveniente dall’omonima Ciesa, costruito di cartone pressato e vuota all’interno per fare spazio al portatore, (alta oltre 3 metri), quella del Cristo Risorto e che va incontro a quella della Madre che provviene dalla Chiesa di Snata Maria degli Angeli. Quando si ha l’incontro tra Madre e Figlio, in piazza del Municipio, La Statua della Madonna è liberata dal manto nero del lutto e scopre quello bianco e celeste , segno di gioia.
