Sull’area dove sorgeva il monastero di Santa Chiara (via san Giovanni Bosco) fu Costruito nel 1907, ultimato nel 1908 l’edificio delle officine elettriche.
Il progetto è di Ernesto Basile su incarico dell’allora Sindaco Don Luigi Sturzo.

La robusta partitura e le grandi finestre del prospetto della sala delle macchine,alleggerite dal coronamento chiaroscurato, fanno di questa parte delle officine un esemplare architettura industriale dei primi del ‘900.
The robust score and the large windows of the façade of the engine room, lightened by the chiaroscuro crowning, make this part of the workshops an exemplary industrial architecture of the early ‘900.
Attualmente la struttura, di proprietà comunale, è sede della palestra comunale del centro storico
