La Confraternita fu fondata dal Dottore Stefano Arcolaci nella seconda metà del XVI Sec. che pure edificò a sue spese la Chiesa.
Era Composta da Nobili e Medici per aiutare gli Ammalati poveri.
Il Canonico Michele Landolina introdusse la Festa con 7 mercoledi’ precedenti in onore di Maria SS. della Provvidenza.
Nel 1717 i Confratelli rifabbricarono la Chiesa che venne Benedetta il 18 Novembre.
Attualmente e Chiusa al Culto.
le Tele e la Statua della Madonna sono state trasferite nella vicina Chiesa di San Giuseppe.

It was composed of Nobles and Doctors to help the poor sick.
